The construction of the most modern technical maintenance base in Poland has started

On 21 September 2023, on the site adjacent to Rzeszów Jasionka Airport, the first shovel was driven in for the construction of the largest investment in the history of the Polish aircraft maintenance leader (LOTAMS Company). This marked the ceremonial inauguration of the construction phase of the base located in the Podkarpacie region, which will receive its first aircraft for servicing in 21 months.

Preparations to realise this investment have been underway for several years. LOTAMS already owns the necessary land (approximately 10 hectares), has obtained all the required permits and has established cooperation with the entities that will be responsible for realising the investment. At the beginning of September this year. The company selected a General Contractor and signed a contract with a consortium comprising Polimex Mostostal and Polimex Infrastruktura Ltd.

This day will go down in the history of our Company and the European aviation industry. May this first shovel driven in be a symbol of our determination, hard work and commitment to in creating the future of aviation in Europe. Together we will build something that will become a source of pride not only for us, but for the entire industry. This investment is also our contribution to the development of Europe’s aviation infrastructure, which is important in the context of the changing challenges of air transport. We are proud to contribute to improving the quality and efficiency of aviation services not only on the Polish market, but also in Europe. Many thanks for the work of all those involved and the support of the Polish Aviation Group. It is thanks to you that we can realise our vision and turn it into reality – emphasised Aleksandra Juda, President of LOTAMS.

The investment will be financed mainly with funds from the recapitalisation of the Company by the Polish Aviation Group.

This investment is a further boost to the development of competences within the Polish Aviation Group in the extremely important and developing segment of aircraft maintenance. Thanks to it, both LOT Polish Airlines and foreign carriers will gain a place where highly-qualified LOTAMS staff will carry out light to structural maintenance. Looking at how many carriers outsource the maintenance of their fleets to the centre in Warsaw, I am convinced that here, in Rzeszów, demand will be just as high, especially in the segment of wide-body aircraft – said Katarzyna Lewandowska, Member of the Board of the Polish Aviation Group.

The investment is estimated to be worth PLN 216 million. It will be one of the largest investments carried out in the Aviation Valley in Podkarpacie.

The LOTAMS technical base in Jasionka is a strategic investment, increasing the potential of our airport on the aviation market and an important element in the diversification of the company’s sources of income. At the same time, it is worth emphasising that this undertaking would not have been possible if it had not been for the initiative and direct involvement of Władysław Ortyl – the Marshal of the Podkarpackie Voivodeship – and the decisions that were taken within the framework of the government administration acting under the direction of Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki – says Adam Hamryszczak, President of Rzeszów-Jasionka Airport.

The project involves, among other things, the construction of a service hangar with a usable area of almost 13,000 m2, pre-hangar apron and a workshop, technical, social and office building on the premises of Rzeszów-Jasionka Airport. The planned completion date of the investment is 21 months (from the commencement of construction work).

Entrusting us with the construction of one of the largest and most modern aircraft maintenance bases in Europe is a great honour and proof that Polish engineers from Polish companies can and do meet the highest global quality standards. The ceremony of driving the symbolic first shovel starts this project, which is very important for the European aviation market. We will make every effort to ensure that the construction started today will be a flagship investment and a source of pride for all of us – said on behalf of the Contractor and Supervisor, Krzysztof Figat – President of the Management Board of Polimex Mostostal S.A.

The hangar will have two slots for base maintenance of wide-bodied aircraft, which can also be flexibly adapted to handle smaller aircraft. Among other things, this will allow PLL LOT’s heavy Boeing 787s to be overhauled.

I am honoured – as the CEO and Managing Director of SAFEGE, which first helped to select the general contractor, and will now oversee the construction of this extraordinary facility in a comprehensive and comprehensive manner – that we will have our share in the creation of this strategic undertaking for Poland, which is the result of many years of planning, the involvement of many people and cooperation between various institutions – added Kamila Kurowska-Gawryś, representative of the company overseeing the investment.
